BGHS vs. Greenwood- For the last two seasons, this game has determined the winner of the Class 5A District 2 championship. The series between these two schools started in 1991. They have played each season since, with a two-year layoff in 2009 and 2010. BGHS is 25-0 against Greenwood. The Purples have a 12-0 mark when playing at Greenwood….This will be the first time that this game has been played in September since 2008…BGHS has outscored the Gators 1001 (40.0)-135 (5.4) in the 25 games played…The Purples have scored at least 40 points against Greenwood in 14 of the 25 games, including 9 of the last 11 contests. GHS has scored over 14 points in just two (1996 and 2004) of the 25 games against the Purples. Eleven of the 25 games have been shutouts for BGHS…Greenwood head coach, Chris Seabolt, served as a BGHS assistant coach, 2010-12.
BGHS vs. Warren County Schools- After the 47-0 win over Warren Central, BGHS is 97-13 (.880) against the schools in Warren County. The Purples are now 38-12 when playing Warren Central. South Warren and BGHS are now district opponents and will meet for the first time in October. The Purples and Warren East spent many years in the same district. BGHS is 32-1 (,970) against the Raiders, with the only WEHS win coming in 1985 with Kevin Wallace as the Raiders head coach. The two schools have not met since 2010….During his time at BGHS, Kevin Wallace is 57-4 (.934) against Warren County schools.
BGHS 47 Warren Central 0- SR WR Ziyon Kenner scored a touchdown rushing, receiving, and on a punt return to lead BGHS to its second consecutive shutout of Warren Central. Kenner now has three returns for scores this season. SR RB Dahzon Blakey also scored three times on two rushing and one receiving touchdown. FR Dez Wilson also scored on a 5-yard run. SO OLB Nathan Trawick and JR CB Cardavious Edmonds led the BGHS defense with six tackles each. BGHS has now won nine in a row against the Dragons and hold a 38-12 edge in the series.
BGHS Football- BGHS Football began play in 1922. Since that time, the Purples have amassed a record of 686-333-35, which places them eighth in all-time wins in Kentucky.. The Purples are tied for 9th in state championships (6), are among only 12 schools in state history that have won three consecutive championships, and their 48-game win streak (2011-14) is the second longest in state history. Since 2011, BGHS is 87-5 (.945). In the 26 seasons since 1990, BGHS and Highlands are the only two Kentucky schools to win more than 85% of their games. JV/Freshman Football- JV – For the third straight week, the JV game was canceled. FR moved to 4-0 with a 42-0 win over South Warren and are scheduled to host Owensboro on Thursday
Coach Wallace: Kevin Wallace has tied Joe Jaggers for 11tth spot on the career KHSAA football wins list (292). Currently, only ten coaches have secured 300 career KHSAA wins. Wallace has a chance to join that group if the Purples can secure eight more wins this season.. Wallace is now 292-101 (.742) in his career, including a 247-40 (.861) mark at BGHS. Wallace is tied for 10th in KHSAA state championship appearances (8) and and tied for 7th in state championships won (5). Wallace is the only coach in state history that have been a part of three separate winning streaks of over 25 games .
